It can be brought about by an injury but is mostly caused by repetitive actions. Everyone is susceptible to this problem; especially if your job requires constant repetitive actions.
What Does CTS Do?
CTS is a syndrome that is based in your wrists. Your carpal tunnel connects your arm to your hands through your wrists. This is a very important part of your body in terms of having functional hands and fingers. When you irritate something like the carpal tunnel, the pain will be spread to everywhere it reaches.
The syndrome is caused by repetitive motions. It is most commonly found in people who type all day long. You are using your hands and fingers constantly while sitting in the same position. After a while of doing this, your ligaments and tendons will be come irritated.
The irritation will turn to swelling. When they swell, they will push down on the nerves, causing them to be pinched. The pinched nerves result in pain and numbness in your hands, wrists and fingers. This pain will only get worse until the problem is addressed and fixed.
